Tall towering trees, frighten me with their height

I walk quietly beneath them

They strike me with their might

Although it is still light, the shadows sweep around me

It feels like it is night

The eerie sights and sounds,

Trees whistling all around

The silence and the loneliness, makes my heart pound

I stop, is that movement? No, it’s just my mind

I look up high and feel dizzy from the sight

The dappled spots of sun are so far away

Yet so beautiful and bright

I feel so small and tiny

I start to wobble and sway

I continue down the path until the trees start to clear

I think I’m getting closer, I feel I’m getting near

The darkness disappears, brightness all around

Yet I turn back to the cool of the forest

Comfort I have found

As I walk back down the thin, dark forest path
